This bike was purchased new as a project bike because of its distinct and unique look. I was looking for a small nimble motorcycle or scooter for city use as an errand runner, albeit a custom errand runner. Its small size and displacement make it perfectly suitable for my intended use. I often refer to it as a scooter even though its 125cc displacement classifies it a motorcycle.
It wasn’t until the bike was torn down and the painted finishes were removed, and the bare metal exposed that the theme for this bike was conceived. It would be an industrial style with polished and brushed – nickel plate, stainless steel and bare metal, topped off with anodized metal and held together with custom fasteners and hardware.
The brushed metal finish gives a unique and elegant look that complements modern and minimalist design styles. The brushed texture adds a subtle visual interest to the metal, making it an attractive choice. The finish is less prone to visible scratches and fingerprints than polished or mirrored finishes, making it easier to maintain and keep clean. It can be used to add a subtle touch of elegance and sophistication to certain components.
Stainless steel is a desirable look for its aesthetic appeal, durability, ease of maintenance, versatility, and modern image.
Polished nickel and stainless finishes are desirable for their aesthetic appeal, corrosion resistance, durability, ease of maintenance, versatility, and are often associated with high-end or luxury vehicles.
The rich look of bare metals can add a unique and distinctive element to the vehicle’s design making it stand out from more conventional finishes. Bare metals can exhibit a rich, warm tone that provides a sense of depth and texture. Metal finishes can also showcase the craftsmanship and attention to detail as they require precise techniques to achieve a seamless and flawless look.
Anodized metal can add a striking and vibrant element to the bikes design. Anodized metal finishes can provide a sleek, modern look that is often associated with high-performance vehicles. The depth and richness of the anodized color can add dimension and texture to the overall design, creating a dynamic and eye-catching effect.
The use of aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium fasteners in the custom motorsport industry can provide a range of benefits, including improved performance, durability, and aesthetics, making them a popular choice for custom racing and high-performance vehicles. They can have a polished or anodized finish that adds a sleek and modern look to the bike. Drilled fasteners can provide a distinctive look that is often associated with high-performance vehicles. Custom fasteners can add a unique and visually striking element showcasing attention to detail.
Overall, a bare metal custom motorcycle with stainless steel, brushed nickel, anodized aluminum, and custom fasteners is a true work of art. It represents the perfect blend of form and function, with its striking visual appeal complemented by its exceptional performance and handling. This type of build is the ultimate expression of individuality and style, showcasing the rider’s unique vision and passion.
